Back To NewsBehind the Hoardings: A scientific discovery!
View ImagesOur latest blog trip to see progress at The Abbey was as eventful as ever! With work now under way on the science block we were amazed to see a new discovery. When the ceiling was removed the team found more than 35 very old school chairs sealed in the roof void. It is likely these once belonged to the Farnham Girls’ Grammar School which occupied the South Farnham School site from 1939 to 1973. The Abbey was built around this time so it is likely the chairs have been hiding away for the last 50 years!
Work on the main school extension looks very exciting, with the roof now complete and the floors fully screeded. Electrical first fix is now under way and you can see where the smart-boards will be installed by the letters ‘TV’ marked on the walls. We went into the school after blogging the site to see the recent wall art in the new year 7 block. Despite the short term loss of space during construction, we were delighted to see it was as calm, happy and work-focused as ever. A real testament to all the staff and students at the school.
