The Friends of The Abbey Family BBQ today was the most successful to date in terms of numbers attending (over 250 people), money raised for the school (over £1,650) and atmosphere on the day.

The band, PR5, laid on some splendid entertainment, supported by warm up and closing ex-student DJ Louis. Some very brave students also performed in the break and did a fantastic job for the appreciative crowd.

We are very grateful to Morgan's the butchers on The Ridgeway parade just down the road who donated all the burgers and sausages and to Warburton's who gave the rolls - this really helped boost the money raised for the school. Thanks also go to all the local shops and businsses who donated prizes for the raffle.

There were over 40 Abbey families here (including half a dozen Year 11 leavers and a pleasantly surprising number of ex-students from longer ago) plus 8 new Year 7 families, enjoying the food and patronising the various stalls and activities.
