Gordon and Ann Parris, their wonderful team, sponsors and patrons have come up trumps again for the students at The Abbey by raising the funds needed to buy 4 sports wheelchairs!

Miss Barkess, Assistant Headteacher, took Annabelle and Jude along to the CWSNF ‘Big Giveaway’ last week when the charity presented a range of donations totalling a huge £69,000 to local special schools including The Abbey.

Thandi Wooldridge, a long-time supporter and friend of the Abbey students, and Jamie Raven, BGT’s most successful ever magician, were among the special guests at the event.

Equipment to help the increasing number of students with mobility needs participate more widely in sports and PE lessons has been on the school ‘wish list’ for some considerable time; everyone wanted a go when they were delivered to school last week though, including Mr Gregory and Mr Hacker!

Luckily Leo was on hand to show the staff and students how to use the chairs safely and get the best performance.

Once again the whole school community owes a huge THANK YOU to everyone at The Children with Special Needs Foundation who do so much to make sure that our students get the ‘extras’ that enhance their experiences at The Abbey.
